Editor-In-Chief’s note

The first Writer’s Room team of 2025 has hit the ground running, pouring their passion into shaping a bold direction for Hype and Urban Wire. They’re not just laying new stones—they’re reimagining the foundation itself. Their energy and vision are setting an incredible tone, and I’m thrilled to see the content they’ll craft this semester.

Lead Editor of Hype

Meet The Team

Say hello to Dhyana, our Lead Editor of HYPE — the sharp, intuitive mind who turns chaos into clean, compelling writing. 📝Meticulous, passionate, and quietly confident, she’s the kind of person who lifts the vibe of the room while keeping everyone grounded. A veggie lover 🍆who’s powered by sunlight ☀️, long walks, and an unapologetic love for Guzman y Gomez 🌯, she balances eloquence with a streak of playful unpredictability — “innocent but wild”, as her friends put it. Funny, introspective, and easy to talk to, Dhyana brings warmth, wit, and creativity to every story she shapes. ✨

Meet Wafeeqa — our chaotic ray of sunshine and Deputy Editor of HYPE. ☀️ When she’s not pitching fresh ideas or perfecting stories, you’ll probably find her cracking the most unhinged joke at exactly the wrong-but-right moment (it’s a talent, really). She’s a sucker for any movie that’ll make her either sob or scream, no in-between. She’s also emotionally attached to her water bottle (her iconic cutesy Bowala 🎀) and overthinks everything like it’s a full-time job. Unfiltered, hilarious, and somehow running on 3 hours of sleep— that’s Wafeeqa for you. ✨

Say hello to Ashley — our fun, spontaneous all-rounder and Deputy Editor of HYPE, who somehow balances being kind, responsible, and just a little bit chaotic (in the best way). 🤸‍♀️ She’s also an avid guitar player, and while she might deny saying she’s talented at it, we’re not buying it! 🎸🎶 A firm believer that frozen yogurt > ice cream (controversial, but respectable), she’s full of surprises when you get to know her. Dedicated, kind, and always the one to keep us on track, Ashley’s the definition of sweet with a little edge. 🎀

Writers Room. Class of 2026.

Meet Ruo Hwee, the Editorial Admin of HYPE, who keeps us in check and on top of our never-ending deadlines! In her free time, you’ll probably find her deep into a four-hour nail art session 💅, grinding out an absurdly high Block Blast score like a true Candy Crush auntie (342,369 and counting), or bingeing her way through long TV dramas. Meticulous, assertive, and always on top of things, she brings organisation and a little bit of glam to the chaos. 💄🎀

Writers Room. Class of 2026.

Meet Khan — our Social Media Head of HYPE and resident ball of energy, confidence, and charisma. 🌞🤸‍♂️ When he’s not swimming laps or writing music, he’s probably deep in an anime binge 📺 or passionately raving about his briyani. He’s the kind of person who charms you over instantly with his smile and extroverted demeanour. 🙌✨️ Whether he’s leading discussions, cracking jokes, or sharing yet another wild story, Khan brings a spark that keeps everyone engaged.
