In comparison, Instagram only averaged 111.5 million per quarter in 2019, according to influencer marketing agency MediaKix.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Audrey Goo, 19, shared in a telephone interview: \u201cMany are making relatable videos about themselves in quarantine which can help viewers seek comfort in the fact that people across the globe are also going through the same thing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The prospective university student initially thought it was \u201ccringy and was not interested in watching or making such videos\u201d, but later downloaded it in a curious attempt to comprehend its raging popularity.<\/span><\/p>\n She was intrigued by the app\u2019s simple yet addictive function \u201cto endlessly scroll through [her] feed with non-repeated content\u201d, providing her with an endless stream of entertainment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n TikTok is powered by its \u2018For You\u2019 page that showcases trending videos, and progressively tailors content to the user\u2019s interest.<\/span><\/p>\n Alene Ren, 19, a Nanyang Junior College alumnus, enjoyed watching anime and observed that her \u2018For You\u2019 page is always \u201c95 per cent filled with anime-related content\u201d. <\/span> The app is also home to a myriad of user-generated content. \u201cFrom comedy to beauty and dancing to fashion, anyone can express themselves with a TikTok video,\u201d Audrey said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n She added: \u201cWhenever I bake something, I would film the process.
